Specialty: Cybersecurity and Information Protection

The Department of Cybersecurity of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” provides training for the first (bachelor’s), second (master’s) and third (PhD) levels of higher education in specialty 125 “Cybersecurity and Information Protection”. Educational professional programs form a range of competencies and learning outcomes that are required by the relevant higher education standards.

The programs provide training for specialists who are able to ensure the required level of cybersecurity of systems of various purposes and nature, primarily business process systems of critical infrastructure systems, cyber-physical systems, etc., at any level of the management hierarchy, taking into account the principles of applying cryptographic methods, modern technologies for ensuring cybersecurity, information security and information security within the framework of national and international standards and practices for carrying out professional activities.

The educational process for the relevant educational programs is organized on the basis of modern integrated environments for the development of corporate applications and data storage systems with authorized access. Each student is provided with free licensed access to applications and services of the Microsoft 365 portal for the period of study. Most laboratory and practical work, as well as course and diploma design, is carried out using the hardware and software tools of the cyber polygon. The department’s teachers are instructors of the Cisco Academy, which allows them to use the Academy’s resources to work out practical tasks for providing security services. Together with the partner company “Cipher” (https://cipher.com.ua/uk), students are offered practical training in the use of PKI technologies based on the CSK (Cipher-X509 project). The partner company Distributed Lab (http://distributedlab.com/) provides support for the Blockchain laboratory, which allows students to gain knowledge on the use of blockchain technologies, decentralized systems and smart contracts.

Within the framework of the mobility of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education based on the Agreement on Cooperation with the Jan Dlugosz University in Częstochowa (Poland) and the Annex to the Agreement on Semester Academic Exchange, students have the right to study free of charge at the Jan Dlugosz University for one academic semester in the relevant specialty according to the approved curriculum. Classes are conducted in Polish or English.

At the second (master’s) level of higher education, in accordance with the Cooperation Agreement with the University of Bielsko-Biała (Poland), students have the opportunity to study under the joint program “Cybersecurity” at the second level. Joint studies are conducted in full-time/part-time forms. Classes are conducted in Polish or English.
