5th International Scientific and Practical Symposium (Baku, Azerbaijan)

On November 17, 2023, professors of the Department of Cybersecurity of NTU KhPI Sergey EVSEEV and Alexander MILOV took part in the 5th International Scientific and Practical Symposium (Baku, Azerbaijan). The report was dedicated to the developments of the department “Ensuring security based on post-quantum algorithms”. The proposed innovative technology, which is based on the use of post-quantum algorithms (crypto-code constructions of McAleese and Niederreiter), can be integrated into any communication channel, which allows for a universal approach to providing security services in the post-quantum period.

Scientific work of the department

The professorial and teaching staff of the department actively participates in international conferences, constantly publishes scientific works based on research results in the scientific-metric database Scopus. The head of the department is a co-organizer of the forum “Digital Reality” within the framework of which the department holds an international scientific and practical conference “INFORMATION SECURITY AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES”. (https://drforum.science/en/home/)

The department’s teachers take an active part in protecting their scientific and practical achievements; in 2020–2021, 10 utility model patents were obtained, which are related to post-quantum cryptography algorithms and the improvement of block symmetric ciphers.
The department works on scientific research in the following areas::
post-quantum algorithms based on McAleese and Niederreiter crypto-code constructions on algebrogeometric (lossy) codes;
methodology for building security systems in socio-cyber-physical systems and critical infrastructure facilities;
models and methods for building a security system in Internet services:
methodology for protecting cyber-physical systems based on the DataMining methodology.

The department opened the Cisco Academy “Computer Science and Information Technologies Institute NTU “KhPI” (ID 400034031), which allows using the academy’s resources not only in the educational process, but also in conducting research by students.
